Kanpur: Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) on Saturday gave a gift to the citizens when it handed over the newly-constructed bus station near Signature Greens in Vikas Nagar to Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC). KDA vice-chairman Arvind Kumar and UPSRTC officials visited the site and asked the chief engineer to formally handover the newly-constructed bus station to UPSRTC officials.
The bus station is equipped with a waiting room, drinking water, civic facilities and proper space for movement of buses, said KDA PRO SB Rai.
The bus station will benefit people who travel from Kanpur to Lucknow besides reducing pressure on city roads. The roads often get blocked when roadways buses come on road from Jhakarkati, Chunniganj, Azd Nagar, Vikas Nagar and Fazalganj depots. KDA vice-chairman has directed the regional manager, UPSRTC and traffic police not to allow autos to operate within the limit of 700 meters as this will help check traffic jams. He has also asked officials to put up a display board informing travellers about arrival and departure of buses, the PRO informed.
