Kamala Harris has tested positive for COVID-19, the White House announced on Tuesday.
The Vice President, 57, tested positive for both a rapid antigen test and a further PCR test but has not shown any symptoms, the White House added.
A statement from Ms Harris’ press secretary, Kirsten Allen read: “Today, Vice President Harris tested positive for COVID-19 on rapid and PCR tests. She has exhibited no symptoms.”

The Vice President has also not been a close contact of Joe Biden or the First Lady, Ms Allen added.
Ms Allen concluded: “She will follow CDC guidelines and the advice of her physicians. The Vice President will return to the White House when she tests negative.”
Ms Harris received a Moderna vaccine shot weeks before takign office and her second after Inauguration Day in 2021.
She has since received two booster shots, the second of which was taken on April ,1 2022.
Infections have risen in some parts of the US due to the highly transmissible Omicron BA. 2 variant, even as cases are falling overall, according to public health officials.
In recent weeks, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, Harris's communications director Jamal Simmons, White House press secretary Jen Psaki and deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre disclosed positive tests.
Mr Biden has also announced new measures to aid the recovery from Covid, including the distrubution of oral antivirals, more Test-to-Treat sites and further support for medical providers in order to give suitable treatment.
