Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is set to debut a new advertisement highlighting her extensive career in public service. The ad is part of a significant $50 million media buy in key battleground states leading up to the upcoming Democratic National Convention.
The ad opens with childhood images of Harris and transitions to footage of her time as a prosecutor and California’s attorney general. It also features excerpts from her first rally as the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, where she emphasizes the need to move forward and not regress.
In the ad, Harris voices her concerns about President Donald Trump's agenda, stating, “But Donald Trump wants to take our country backward. To give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations and end the Affordable Care Act. But we are not going back.”
The campaign plans to broadcast the ad during various popular programs in the coming weeks, including the Olympics, “The Bachelorette,” “Big Brother,” “The Daily Show,” “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” and “The Simpsons.”
Jen O’Malley Dillon, the campaign chair, highlighted that the ad showcases Harris’ vision for a future where all Americans have the opportunity to thrive, not just survive. It also sheds light on the perceived risks associated with Trump’s proposed policies, such as tax cuts for the wealthy and the potential repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
