Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign is swiftly reacting to an evaluation from former Chief of Staff John Kelly, who served under Donald Trump, suggesting that the ex-president fits the description of a fascist. In response, the campaign has released a new advertisement featuring audio of Kelly's remarks from an interview with the New York Times. The ad begins by labeling Kelly's assessment as 'an unprecedented warning.'
In the interview, Kelly stated, 'He certainly falls into the general definition of a fascist, using the military to go after American citizens. He commented more than once, 'Hitler did some good things too.'' This ad is part of a broader effort by the campaign to portray Trump as increasingly erratic and unbalanced as the presidential election draws near.
The ad is included in the Harris-Walz campaign's fall paid media campaign, which has a budget of $370 million and is being broadcast on both television and digital platforms.
