Kalvin Phillips' WhatsApp plea to ex-Leeds United teammates with midfielder still in group chat

Kalvin Phillips has revealed he is still an admin in the Leeds United players Whatsapp group chat, despite leaving to join Premier League champions Manchester City this summer.

Phillips swapped Leeds for Manchester earlier in the summer transfer window, in a move that saw him leave his boyhood club where he spent over a decade.

The 26-year-old will always be fondly remembered at Elland Road. He came through the Leeds' academy to become one of their best players in recent history, helping the club to reach the Premier League for the first time in years back in 2020.

Usually, the tradition when a player leaves a club is they get kicked out of the various club group chats. But what happens if you leave a club and you're the admin?

Well, that's the situation Phillips finds himself in now. The England international is clearly still on good terms with the rest of the Leeds squad and has no intention of leaving the Whites player group chat just yet.

"The day that I get kicked out of that, I'll be quite upset!" Phillips told Football Daily.

"I'm one of the admins...but obviously Liam Cooper, the captain, is an admin as well. But I think, just because I've got so many friends there and obviously, it's the players chat so not much goes in there about training and the games and stuff like that. So I'm very happy to still be in that one."
