Kaley Cuoco has caused an uproar online after suggesting flight attendants should be tipped by passengers.
The 36-year-old actress, who played a flight attendant in HBO Max TV's The Flight Attendant, said she gained a new sense of respect for the profession while filming the show.
Kaley also said she now shows flight attendants "a bit of love" after getting a better understanding of the job.
The Flight Attendant follows alcoholic Cassie Bowden (played by Kaley) after she wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man and no memory of what happened. Kaley received her first ever Emmy nomination for her role.
While catching a flight at Los Angeles airport on Tuesday, the Big Bang Theory star was approached by a reporter from TMZ. When asked if passengers should tip their cabin crew, Kaley said: "Yes. Tip your flight attendant!"
Not everyone has agreed with Kaley's suggestion, with people taking to Twitter to voice their opinions.
One person wrote: "Just stop. Everybody wants every penny we work for. EVERYBODY deserves a tip, but it's the company's problem not the people's.
"The companies just need to pay more. Stop taking our little dollars we working for...without tips. Just stop. Go after the companies."
Another said: "I vote we eliminate tipping and organisations pay their staff better."
"Or the airlines should pay them more," a third added, while someone else agreed: "Lol no the general public already pays enough for those flights. Airlines need to pay better."
While many were critical of Kaley's suggestion, some agreed with her idea.
"By all means, if that’s what she wants to do go for it," one person suggested.
Another simply added: "She's right," while a third wrote: "If they’re truly pleasant and helpful, then they should definitely get a tip."
Many airlines don't allow tips according to former flight attendant Jo Jo Harder, who spoke to USAToday in 2017.
She said that she understands guests "feel compelled to tip" for good service, but that it was "not allowed" in her career.
