Kai Kennedy leads Rangers Academy departure list as NINE players exit Ibrox

Rangers have confirmed NINE players will leave the club from the academy programme this year including Kai Kennedy.

The 21-year-old winger spent the season on loan at Scottish League One side Falkirk and helped them reach the Scottish Cup semi-final before defeat to Inverness. It was a memorable run for the third tier side, but the season ended in disappointment as they lost out to Airdrie in the play-offs as they spend another campaign outside the top two leagues.

He is joined by Tony Weston, Murray Miller, Kevin Ciubotaru, Charlie Lindsay, Lewis MacKinnon, Kelsey Ewen, Harly Ewen and Alex Kpake in all moving on.

B Team head coach, David McCallumm told the Rangers official website: “It is always a sad time of the year when we bid farewell to players who have made the journey through the Rangers Academy to B Team level.

“It has been a privilege to witness the development of each individual, both as players and, most importantly, young men taking their first steps in a professional football environment.

“While it is always disappointing to leave a club like Rangers, I have no doubt each and every one of the lads departing for pastures new will forge a strong career in the game and we will continue to keep an eye out for them."

The Ibrox club will provide regular check-ins and support for the departing starlets and have wished them all the best for their future careers.
