Kai Havertz told he could struggle for Chelsea game time under Graham Potter amid 'slow' claim

With a new boss at the helm, all Chelsea players will be eager to impress in training at Cobham. Graham Potter will be looking to implement his own ideas and style at Chelsea, and places in the starting XI are for grabs.

The Sun have reported that Armando Broja is one of the players who has caught the eye of Potter so far and is being considered for a regular starting role. Potter is blessed with an abundance of attacking options, with the likes of Broja, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, Raheem Sterling, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all vying for a spot in the team.

Kai Havertz started for Chelsea in Potter's first game in charge - a 1-1 draw against RB Salzburg - but he's been told that he could soon be dropped by the 47-year-old. The Germany international faced criticism for his performances at the start of the season, and celebrated his goal against West Ham United by putting his finger to his mouth to silence his critics.

Former Chelsea right-back Glen Johnson believes that Havertz's game time under Potter could be limited, and that Todd Boehly may look to bring in an upgrade in that position in January. Johnson believes some of the criticism the 23-year-old had faced is unfair, but says his inconsistent displays could see him dropped.

"Chelsea could look to replace Havertz, yes," Johnson told Genting Casino. "Teams are always looking to strengthen their squad.

"Things change fast in football and he’s come up with some big goals in big games but for me he doesn’t do it often enough.

"When he’s on it, he looks great. But in terms of the way he players, he looks slow and it looks lazy. People get frustrated but he’s not lazy, that’s just the way he plays. Players at the top level, if they don’t perform there is always the risk of being replaced."
