Kai Havertz shuts down Thomas Tuchel transfer swoop talk as Frank Lampard returns to Chelsea

Kai Havertz has insisted that he's happy at Chelsea, ruling out a potential move to Bayern Munich in the summer. The 23-year-old has been one of several Blues stars to be heavily linked with a move to the Bundesliga champions following Thomas Tuchel's appointment.

Soon after replacing Julian Nagelsmann at the Allianz Arena, he quickly turned to his former colleagues to further bolster his options – on and off the pitch. Reports from Germany first began to note Bayern's interest in various Chelsea players such as Havertz, Mason Mount and Edouard Mendy, before Tuchel later confirmed his desire to hire Anthony Barry.

The Blues' coach was appointed as part of Frank Lampard's backroom team in 2019 and he's believed to be the 'brains' behind much of the club's recent success with set-pieces. Nevertheless, with plenty of speculation looming of the futures of Chelsea employees, Havertz has responded to claims that he could leave.

Speaking to Phrasenmaher, a podcast by German outlet SportBild, the attacker claimed that he is enjoying his time in west London and only focusing on the Champions League. Havertz will be hoping to spearhead a frontline – potentially picked by Frank Lampard – as the Blues face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.

As quoted by Goal, Havertz said: "I still have a two-year contract, I don't have to move every two to three years. My girlfriend and I feel very comfortable in London. I love the club, the people and the fans. At the moment we're still in the Champions League.

"My goal is to reach the final again. Football is very fast-paced, you never know what will happen. We'll see what happens in the summer. I'm not thinking about that."

Last month, Havertz admitted that, as a German, it's 'hard to say no' when Bayern come calling. Despite the Chelsea star later confirming his intent to stay at Stamford Bridge, his comments were misconstrued by large sections of the fanbase.

"Bayern are generally a huge club that it's hard to say no to as a German player," said Havertz, speaking to Sport Bild. "But my personal goal has always been to play abroad at some point. In England or Spain."

He then broke his silence a few days later in an interview with the official club website which addressed his hardships of late. Havertz said: "After the bad times we had – and the beginning of the year was very bad – we have progressed quite well.

"After bad times you’re going to see the sun again. In my career as well I knew when I had bad times to just continue my work and it was going to be fine.

"Of course we lost some times, our table position is bad, but the fans can be excited for the next few months and years, and everything that happens, because we have bought some good-quality players and they are going to achieve some big things here."
