Mikel Arteta has got his man. Arsenal's first signing of what is expected to be a summer transfer window was confirmed on Wednesday evening with Kai Havertz completing his move from Chelsea.
It's been widely reported that the Gunners have paid around £65 million to get this deal over the line and it's rather interesting to note that he is viewed as a midfielder despite previously operating as a striker in a false nine role with his former club and the Germany national team.
"Kai is a player of top quality. He has great versatility and is an intelligent player," Arteta told Arsenal.com after the transfer was made official. "He will bring a huge amount of extra strength to our midfield and variety to our play. We welcome Kai and his family to Arsenal Football Club and we are all excited to start working with him when we start pre-season training soon."
