Kai Havertz Hails His Decision To Quit Chelsea For Arsenal

Kai Havertz has admitted that leaving Chelsea for Arsenal in 2023 was the ‘best thing’ he could have done for his career.

The German has enjoyed his football at the Emirates, scoring 23 goals in 71 appearances for the club.

He became a fan favourite at Chelsea after scoring the winning goal in the 2021 Champions League final.

However, that all changed when he made a £65m switch to Arsenal in the summer transfer window last year.

Havertz attracted the ire of Chelsea fans when he shushed Stamford Bridge in celebration of a goal ruled offside last month.

He has now gone one step further by stressing the necessity of his move away from west London.

Kai Havertz Explains Why Arsenal Move Was ‘Best Thing’ For Him

Kai Havertz told Sky Sports that he is ‘happy’ with the backing he has received since leaving Chelsea for Arsenal.

“For me, it’s the best thing I could have done,” Havertz told the broadcaster. “I’m so happy with the support of everyone who helped me during my time there.

“I’ve only just started, and I hope to continue playing well and winning titles.”

Where Things Went Wrong For Havertz At Chelsea

Big things were expected for Kai Havertz at Stamford Bridge following his arrival from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020.

Despite an underwhelming opening season, there was hope things would improve after his winner to give Chelsea the Champions League trophy.

There was not much change however over the next two seasons at the club.

Multiple managers struggled to find the best position for Havertz and the Blues weren’t too fussed about selling him to one of their rivals.

Arsenal have got the best out of Havertz – who enjoyed his best season last term with 13 goals and 7 assists.

This season, Havertz has five goals and one assist from his opening 13 games.
