Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kadhimi and Kurdistan Regional President Nechirvan Barzani asserted their rejection of turning Iraq into an arena for settling regional scores.
Kadhimi visited the Kurdistan Region and met with Barzani.
They discussed the latest developments in the political process and efforts made by the federal government and the Kurdistan Region to maintain peace and adopt dialogue as the only approach to reaching solutions.
The meetings in Erbil aim to end the political crisis following the early parliamentary elections in October 2021.
The two sides also discussed recent security developments, Iran's attacks against Kurdish areas, the need to respect Iraqi sovereignty, and Iraq's and the Region's commitment to good-neighborly relations.
Kadhimi pledged to call for dialogue, saying it was the only way to resolve the crisis.
Kadhimi and Barzani stressed the need to adopt national dialogue between all political forces to end the political impasse that is threatening stability.
They agreed to continue joint coordination between Baghdad and Erbil to address several issues, namely combating terrorism and the repeated attacks on Iraq.
