Kadarius Toney absent as Giants open voluntary minicamp

New York Giants legend Michael Strahan was present as the team opened their three-day voluntary minicamp on Tuesday, but one of their core players was not.

Second-year wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who had a tumultuous rookie season, was absent. He was joined by veteran cornerback James Bradberry, who continues to skip voluntary activities while his fate is determined.

The key word may be “voluntary,” but Toney’s continued refusal to join the team for anything that isn’t mandatory has raised some eyebrows. And it’s a near certainty that head coach Brian Daboll will be asked about the situation when he meets with reporters on Wednesday.

For just about every other Giant, Tuesday represented a time to work. Here’s a look at some of the sights and sounds from Day 1.

The Giants will return to the field for a soft practice on Wednesday. In addition to Daboll being available, several players will also conduct press conference before general manager Joe Schoen holds his pre-draft presser.
