THRISSUR: Eminent writer K Satchidanandan, who has been appointed president of the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, said strengthening the bonds between Malayalam and other languages would be one of his top priorities. He said he hoped to leverage his experience and contacts with writers from India and abroad to make this a reality.
Satchidanandan said he also hoped to develop the linkages between Malayalam literature and other forms of cultural expressions like performing arts. “Our performing arts including Kathakali, Thullal or Opna have all grown in close association with literature. This is true of literature of other Indian states also. So it is important to nurture the inter-arts or intercultural links,’’ he said.
