In the past decade, K-pop has made a significant impact on the American music scene, and 2023 was no exception. Despite the absence of the legendary BTS, who were fulfilling their military duties, the K-pop genre reached new heights on the Billboard 200 chart. Five different albums by K-pop artists secured the coveted No. 1 spot, marking it as the year with the most leaders on the tally for the genre.
Undoubtedly, BTS holds the title for the most successful K-pop act in America. With six No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200, they paved the way for their fellow artists. In 2018, BTS became the first K-pop group to top the chart, and since then, they have consistently dominated the U.S. music scene.
