The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday accepted the resignation of former Tamil Nadu president K Annamalai from the party's primary membership, bringing to an end weeks of speculation over his future within the organisation.
Annamalai, who held discussions with the BJP's central leadership in New Delhi earlier this week, had conveyed his decision to leave the party despite efforts by senior leaders to persuade him to reconsider.
