NEW DELI: In a bizarre turn of events during the women's 100m hurdles race at the Asian Games in Hangzhou on Sunday, Jyothi Yarraji initially faced disqualification, then was allowed to participate, and ultimately finished third -- all this transpiring within a matter of minutes.
The dramatic sequence unfolded during the final event of the day at the 'Big Lotus' stadium when the race was stopped following the firing of the starting gun. Upon reviewing the race start, on the on-field screen, it became evident that Chinese runner Wu Yanni had initiated the false start by getting off the blocks before the gunshot.
