The last time Draymond Green faced the Phoenix Suns, he received an indefinite suspension for an incident involving Jusuf Nurkic. As such, the Golden State Warriors game against Phoenix on Saturday (Feb. 11) had an added dimension for fans to keep their eyes on. Golden State ended up winning the matchup, taking their record to 6-1 in recent weeks.
However, after the game, Nurkic revealed that he wasn’t impressed with how Green conducted himself throughout the contest. The veteran big man even mentioned how he doesn’t believe Green learned anything from his suspension, despite him previously showing support for the Warriors forward.
“He didn’t learn anything man. It’s just a matter of time, he gonna knock somebody else again. So, I take everything back what I said. He don’t deserve a chance. That’s it for me…His antics…I don’t care. At the end of the day, he can try to play that way, but no one worries about him.”
Green has been toeing the line since his return from suspension. Yes, he still plays with an edge to his game, which is what the Warriors need from him, and he continues to be part of the team’s success. However, he has found a more consistent balance and has shied away from going too far.
Nurkic’s comments are likely to elicit a response from Warriors fans as they look to ensure Green keeps the competitive edge that makes him such a unique and valuable member of the roster. As long as he doesn’t overstep the mark, Green will continue to be one of the most impactful members of Golden State’s roster moving forward.
