The big news out of the NFL this week was Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert was placed on IR after fracturing his right index finger. This is horrible news for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Why? Well if you look at the Chargers remaining schedule, they have two games of particular interest to the Steelers. Next week the Chargers take on the 7-6 Buffalo Bills and the following week they go against the 7-6 Denver Broncos.
Minus Herbert, the odds of the Chargers winning those games go way down and those are both teams in the playoff hunt fighting with the Steelers for those final spots. Unfortunately with how poorly the Steelers have been playing, it isn’t a matter of win and you are in. They will need some help and now it doesn’t look like the Chargers will give it to them.
