Seven days after we saw one wide open player not get the ball in a crucial situation, it happened again.
In the Washington Commanders’ 12-7 win over the Chicago Bears, Justin Fields faced a fourth-and-goal from the opposing 4-yard line. A touchdown would win it, anything else and it was a loss.
He threw a pass to Darnell Mooney that the receiver bobbled before corralling it … but he was JUST short of the goal line.
But what we’re here to talk about is the fact that everyone noticed a WIDE OPEN David Montgomery on the other side of the field. Granted, Fields wasn’t looking his way — I guess the play call was to Mooney in a one-on-one situation:

Here's what happened to Mooney at the goal line
The Bears were *this close* from winning
Darnell Mooney catches the ball just short of the end zone. (Did he catch it??)

Some logic here about why Montgomery wasn't going to get the football
Some good insights here:
Please stop talking about David Montgomery. Fields should never have thrown the ball to David Montgomery. pic.twitter.com/z4qPgNStyl

But still, he was open!
David Montgomery was wide open on the other side of the field, Justin.
