Justin Fields conveniently hugged Bears OC Luke Getsy in front of cameras after ‘coaching’ comment

Wednesday was a firestorm at the Chicago Bears’ headquarters in Lake Forest, Illinois. One of the more notable tidbits came from Justin Fields, who partially blamed being overcoached and overstimulated for his poor play thus far in 2023. That, of course, would fall on the lap of Bears’ offensive coordinator Luke Getsy,

Fields later saw the reaction to his apparent criticism over social media and tried to walk them back. Getsy himself professed that he and Fields are all good and that there are no issues between them as the Bears try to dig out of a disastrous early-season 0-2 hole. In light of this bizarre controversy, Fields and Getsy hugged it out during Chicago’s practice on Thursday.

Of course, in a video courtesy of NBC Sports Chicago, there were cameras rather conveniently filming the pair as they ironed out any differences in public.

Look, Fields’ comment was probably overblown. I don’t think he was actually ripping Getsy or the other Bears’ offensive coaches. He was just being candid about why he’s personally struggling while taking accountability for himself. That said, I don’t remotely buy that everything has been smoothed out between Fields and Getsy.

In the kind of tailspin the Bears are currently having, there’s simply no way there isn’t some kind of disconnect between quarterback and coordinator.

This was how Twitter reacted to the Fields-Getsy hug
