Justin Bieber Glasgow gig cancelled as singer admits health battle has 'taken its toll'

Justin Bieber has announced that he has had to cancelled his current world tour amid a health battle which will see his Glasgow gig pushed back again.

The 28-year-old explained to his fans on Tuesday (September 6) through Instagram that his latest struggles have now affected his ability to take to the stage, admitting it has taking its toll.

The Yummy singer was due to perform in Glasgow on February 8 2023 but revealed he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome earlier this year forcing him to take a break from touring.

The syndrome is said to occur when a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near one of your ears. In addition to the painful rash, Ramsay Hunt syndrome can cause facial paralysis and hearing loss in the affected ear.

The singer, who is married to model Hailey Bieber, formerly Baldwin, kicked off his Justice World Tour in March of this year however due to facial paralysis, he was forced to cancel shows in June after he opened up about what had been happening and admitted it has taken "a real toll" on him.

The Love Yourself singer recently resumed touring however despite having 70 shows left to complete before he was set to wrap things up in March 2023, the star has now had to pull out and put his health first.

Writing on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday night, Justin told his fans and followers: "Earlier this year, I went public about my battle with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, where my face was partly paralyzed.

"As the result of this illness, I was not able to complete the North America leg of the Justice Tour. After resting and consulting with my doctors, family and team, I went to Europe in an effort to continue with the tour. I performed six live shows but it took a real toll on me."

He continued: "This past weekend, I performed at Rock in Rio and I gave everything I have to the people in Brazil. After getting off stage, the exhaustion overtook me and I realized that I need to make my health the priority right now.

"So I'm going to take a break from touring for the time being. I'm going to be okay but I need time to rest and get better. I've been so proud to bring this show and our message of Justice to the world. Thank you for your prayers and support throughout all of this! I love you all passionately."

Speaking to TMZ, a source claiming to be close to the star, as reported by the Mirror, revealed that "a significant reason for the cancellation is mental health" with Justin said to be "struggling in the last few years" and coping with his recent health battle has also taken its toll.

Addressing his health during a three minute video on Instagram, the Canadian singer showed his facial paralysis and explained: "This is pretty serious, as you can see. I wish this wasn't the case, but, obviously, my body's telling me I've got to slow down.

"I hope you guys understand. I'll be using this time to just rest and relax and get back to a hundred percent so that I can do what I was born to do," he added when speaking to his 256 million Instagram followers.

He went on to explain how he had been doing facial exercises to "get back to normal", but that he didn't not know how long it will take to recover.
