Justin Baldoni faces more legal issues over Blake Lively lawsuit fees

  • Attorneys for Justin Baldoni have urged a judge to rule that insurer QBE Insurance Corp was obligated to cover legal fees stemming from a lawsuit involving Blake Lively.
  • Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios sued QBE and New York Marine and General Insurance Co in July 2025 for refusing to fund their defence and countersuit relating to the film It Ends With Us.
  • Baldoni's legal team argues Lively was an actor, executive producer, and entrepreneur rather than an employee, invalidating QBE's primary defence against coverage.
  • Insurer QBE maintains that all claims brought by Lively directly arose from her employment setting as the lead actress on the movie set.
  • A hearing is scheduled for 10 November for Judge James I. Montgomery to determine whether QBE had a legal duty to defend Baldoni.
