Just Eat hack could save you money every time you order a takeaway

Shoppers could save a bit of cash by using this little known hack when ordering food through Just Eat.

Millions use a form of food delivery service every day, some have their lunch delivered to their desk as they don't have the time to run out and grab some, and others decided to treat themselves to their favourite takeaway tea after a long day.

However, many don't realise they could be paying more for their food than they need to.

This could be through hidden extra costs such as increased menu prices which can sometimes be placed on orders made through delivery apps.

However, one of the UK's most popular food delivery apps has promised to give you money back if you experience this when ordering on their app.

Just Eat has a "price promise" on restaurant orders made through the app and you can claim money back if your food order could've been cheaper if you ordered through the restaurant directly.

So if you wanted to order Salt and Pepper tofu from your favourite Chinese takeaway and the price advertised on Just Eat was £7.50 and the price on the restaurant's website or app was £5.50, then you could claim back the difference.

If you ordered several menu items, then you could end up paying a lot more for your meal by ordering through Just Eat.

If your claim is successful, then you could receive twice the difference in the form of a Just Eat pay code voucher.

On the Just Eat website, it says: "If you pay more for your menu items when ordering a delivery meal from a restaurant on Just Eat than you would when ordering from the restaurant directly on their own online channels (eg. their own website or app), we’ll give you twice the difference in the form of a Just Eat pay code voucher.

"It’s as simple as that, that’s our Price Promise to you."

For example, if you could have got your food for £5 less by going to the restaurant directly, Just Eat will give you a voucher for £10.

However, the delivery company states that its "Price Promise" doesn't include any separate customer charges applied to the order such as a service charge, admin charge, or delivery fees.

It also doesn't include special offers.

To make claim, you will need to log into your Just Eat account and click the "email us" button on its website.

A form will pop up and you will need to enter your Just Eat order number and describe your Price Promise claim and click "Send message".

Just Eat's website says that you may need to provide evidence such as photographs or links about your claim.

Once Just Eat has received your Price Promise claim form, it aims to get back to you within seven working days and once it has been confirmed you will receive your voucher "as soon as possible".
