Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp took time out of his holiday to ensure the club completed the signing of Luis Diaz last month.
The Reds signed the Colombia international, 25, late in the January transfer window after agreeing an initial £37.5million fee with Porto.
Diaz enjoyed a superb start to the season in Portugal, scoring 14 goals in 18 Primeira Liga games to help Porto reach the top of the table.
Various clubs were interested in signing the forward - including Premier League side Tottenham - yet Liverpool managed to persuade him to move to Merseyside.
This is believed to have happened after Julian Ward, who will take over as the club's sporting director when Michael Edwards departs in the summer, arranged a Zoom call.

And - according to Goal - Ward, Diaz and the player's representatives were joined on the call by Klopp, despite the Liverpool boss enjoying a well-earned break.
At the time, the Premier League's winter break was in full swing. Players and managers were resting up ahead of the business end of the season.
Klopp's powers of persuasion appeared to do the trick, as Diaz agreed to join Liverpool and made an instant impact on his debut against Cardiff last weekend.
Diaz set up Takumi Minamino's goal to help the Reds secure a 3-1 FA Cup win at Anfield.
Liverpool's new signing suffered a knock on his debut, yet Klopp has confirmed he's fine to make his Premier League bow against Leicester at Anfield on Thursday evening.
"The goal he set up for Taki was absolutely incredible - high press, counter-press, I love it - and then Taki finished it off," Klopp told the club's website.
"Then, the long ball, the heading challenge, he goes down [and] holds his knee afterwards.
"We were all really shocked. I had a look on the screen and I saw that everything was fine in the air, everything was fine when he came down.
"But then I saw the big fella of Cardiff standing on his knee and he has now a bruise there and a scar, it’s red and a little bit open.
"We all said to him, ‘Welcome to England!’
"Now he has his first assist and his first little scar. That’s absolutely OK... maybe tomorrow he feels it more and we have to react to that, but it’s nothing serious."
In his programme notes before the Cardiff game, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson wrote: "On behalf of all the players I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Luis Diaz.
"I can tell from the reaction online our supporters will make him feel at home very quickly and likewise in the dressing room."
Henderson went on to say: "Luis has played against us twice this season, so we know his quality first-hand.
"But what’s more important is that as a dressing room we show him and his young family they are coming into a welcoming environment and help them settle off the pitch."
