Jurgen Klopp has challenged Luis Diaz to follow in Mohamed Salah’s footsteps after the Egyptian scored his 150th goal for Liverpool.
Trailing to a Milot Rashica strike shortly after the restart against Norwich City, Sadio Mane equalised for the Reds with an overhead kick before Salah rolled Liverpool ahead after running onto an Alisson long-ball, evoking memories of his famous last-minute strike against Manchester United in the club’s 2019/20 title-winning season.
Diaz then opened his account for the club with a clever lobbed finish as Liverpool ran out 3-1 winners to close the gap on Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.
And Klopp was full of praise for his forwards after the final whistle when reflecting on Salah and Mane’s incredible records for the Reds.

THEO SQUIRES: Divock Origi just changed everything as final role becomes clear
“Today was a really cheeky one to be honest,” said Klopp to reporters when asked to pick his favourite Salah goal. “I remember the Chelsea goal where he cut inside and thunderbolt in the far corner.
“A few of the dribbling ones, against City and Watford. The United goal I like a lot, the 2-0. Ali’s pass as well. Champions League, the one at City as well. It was very special. I can’t remember all 150 but I can remember a lot. There were some good goals.
“The first one at Watford, that was maybe the easiest goal he scored since he was here. If Luis could use the first goal for a similar journey it would be cool!
“Nobody could expect on that day when he scored at Watford in this period of time it would be possible for him to score 149 more. Really special.”

Klopp continued: “The situation is we speak about one, but we have to speak about the other one as well. It’s 100% true.
“Sadio’s goal record is absolutely insane as well. The goal he scored today maybe shows the whole range of the things he can do.
“He helped the team out today massively with first playing in the centre, then going back to left-wing, then being in the right moment in the centre to do the bicycle kick.
“Sad has more than 100 goals as well. He’s a world-class striker. Wherever he will play, left-wing, right-wing, centre, he’s a world-class striker. It’s really helpful to have him here.”
