Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has compared his club's summer transfer business with Manchester City's, as the two sides prepare to rekindle their battle for Premier League supremacy.
A single point separated them last season as City walked home with their fourth title in five campaigns. And both managers have gone into the transfer market to strengthen this summer; Pep Guardiola won the race for Norway sensation Erling Haaland and has also signed England midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
Moving in the other direction are Gabriel Jesus, Raheem Sterling and Oleksandr Zinchenko as Guardiola sets sights on a new left-back with Brighton defender Marc Cucurella understood to be top of his shopping list. Liverpool and Klopp have, meanwhile, made their own mark this summer by breaking their transfer record to sign Darwin Nunez.

He scored 34 goals in 41 games for Benfica last season and could eventually cost £85million with add-ons. He was targeted after Liverpool allowed Senegal forward Sadio Mane to join Bayern Munich.
During an interview with Sky Sports, manager Klopp was asked if Liverpool will make any more signings. He said: "Unless we have injuries or player sales no, we have our squad. Hopefully there won't be any so Liverpool supporters can focus on other things."
Klopp added: "I cannot say the others have so far made a massive mistake in the transfer market... City haven't just brought in players, they've given two to Arsenal and one to Chelsea.
"We're in a similar situation where you can't always go with the same team. You need fresh blood and legs.
"City are in a similar situation to us and we did things in a similar way. In the end, they [clubs] will all have fantastic football players like we will and it's [the title race] a question of who makes the most of it."
