Jurgen Klopp says he won't be in touch with Steven Gerrard before Aston Villa's visit to Manchester City on Sunday.
But the Liverpool boss believes anything is still possible as his side go to the final day of the Premier League campaign still with a chance of a 20th title.
Klopp made nine changes to the side that won the FA Cup on Saturday against Chelsea, but the Reds still had enough to secure a 2-1 win at Southampton on Tuesday night to take them to within a point of Pep Guardiola's league leaders.
The Reds entertain Wolves on Sunday knowing Villa need to get something from their own game with City to stand a chance of usurping Guardiola's men. Klopp, though, has dismissed talk of a chat with legendary former Liverpool captain prior to the weekend's fixtures.

"No, of course not!" Klopp said when asked about contacting Villa manager Gerrard. "Stevie prepares now for Burnley, who are fighting for everything. It’s Villa’s last home game. They will play that game and then collect the bones and go again on Sunday.
"There is no reason to talk to him. We know that Villa wants to win for Villa. That’s it. The only way I can see it is if it was the other way round, I wouldn’t think it was done.
"Of course we think City wins that game, but it’s football. But we have to win our game. We don’t talk about Wolves as if they are not there. We will be 100 percent focused.
"Last time it was that close, City won it because of 11 centimetres (when John Stones cleared off the line in 2019). So many things happened this season. If we would become champions this season it would be deserved, but we have to win and then we will see."
After falling behind to Nathan Redmond's early goal, the visitors responded at St Mary's through Takumi Minamino and Joel Matip to close the gap to just a point.
It means Liverpool will be crowned champions if City fail to beat Villa and they secure three points over Bruno Lage's Wolves at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
