Jurgen Klopp refuses to offer excuse to Liverpool players
Jurgen Klopp admits he is hugely concerned by Liverpool's form as he reiterated how last season's 63-game campaign has impacted proceedings this term.
The Reds were beaten 3-0 by Wolves on Saturday afternoon as they lost their seventh game of the season at Molineux.
Craig Dawson scored his first goal for Wolves after 12 minutes after Joel Matip had earlier put through his own net and Ruben Neves wrapped things up in the second half after an incisive counter-attack involving the jet-heeled Adama Traore.
Klopp accepts he is worried about the ongoing run of form and suggested the first half of the campaign was adversely influenced by last term's marathon run.
The German though refused to use that as an excuse for the current predicament, saying: "The question, unfortunately, has been asked too often. How can I not be concerned?
"I cannot sit here and say it’s all OK and we did well. It’s not. I was asked outside if it’s because of last season, 63 games.
"Yes, of course, it’s clear that [last season] has influenced the first part of the season, but how long do we want to suffer from that? It’s February now. We had a full week to prepare, we have another eight or nine days to prepare the next one.”

Alan Shearer delivers brutal verdict on five Liverpool players in Wolves defeat
Alan Shearer has heavily criticised one Liverpool player following the defeat to Wolves - and singled out four others.
Liverpool suffered a miserable 3-0 reverse at Molineux in the Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon. It was the third consecutive away league loss for the struggling Reds, whose unbeaten run in the top flight now stands at four matches.
An early own goal from Joel Matip opened the scoring for Wolves, before a Craig Dawson header saw Jurgen Klopp's side go 2-0 down inside the first 12 minutes. Ruben Neves rounded off the scoring in the second half.
Liverpool are now in 10th place in the table and are 11 points adrift of the top-four spots. Next up in the is the Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield a week on Monday.
After the match, Shearer analysed the Reds' sorry showing on Match of the Day. The former Newcastle United, Blackburn Rovers and England striker was critical of Matip’s performance, in particular, as well as highlighting moments from four other Reds players during the dreadful defeat.
“You have time to pick your pass, no pressure on the ball, it’s too easy,” said Shearer. “(Joe) Gomez is out of position.
“Look at Matip, you have time to pick your pass and put it in behind. Matip stops. I mean, he is on his way over there to close them and he stops. I don’t know what he’s doing. He had a nightmare.”
