Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool forced Leeds United into mistakes in their 'best game of the season'

Jurgen Klopp has hailed Liverpool's pressing in what he's called their best game of the season after a resounding 6-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road. The Whites crumbled to allow the Reds their first win on the road against sides below them in the Premier League, an area where they've struggled this season.

In truth, nobody expected Leeds to come away with three points, but the manner of the defeat, combined with defeat to Crystal Palace the week prior, spells out warning signs for the Whites faithful and Javi Gracia. The defeat didn't impact Leeds' position in the top flight, with results going their way this weekend and their two-point gap to the bottom three still in tact.

Nonetheless, the individual errors and mistakes at the back are coming back to bite Leeds once again. The Whites are a point worse off than this time last season where they narrowly avoided relegation on the final day, despite mid-table assurances from the Leeds hierarchy in pre-season.

Klopp told Sky Sports: "I think it's the best game we've played this season from all different perspectives, aspects of the game, controlling the game. Jamie [Carragher] spoke about mistakes and individual errors from Leeds but I think we forced them.

"A really good game. Sensational goals and counter pressing wise, best game for - I was going to say decades - but a really long time. My favourite situation is 92nd minute we lose the ball and four players chase the boy on the ball, the poor boy from Leeds, that was outstanding and exactly what we wanted.

"I'm really happy about the game. Before the game I said we had a really good training week, so I could have chosen three of four different line-ups and the boys really showed up.

"The boys enjoyed training this week because we had a lot of time to train and we used that. Pretty much everything what we did in training I could see on the pitch and from a manager's point of view, really, really good.

"The second-half against Arsenal was really important for all of us. We were 2-0 down after 20 minutes or so and this game could have gone either way. If we lose that three or four nil, on the day that would have been a massive blow but we came back and played a really good game second-half.

"Now it was important to build on that today. There are still eight games to come for us and we have to do what we did tonight again and again."
