Jurgen Klopp has spoken out about Ben Davies leaving for Glasgow Rangers after Liverpool confirmed the transfer this evening.
The 26-year-old defender has joined the Scottish side after an 18-month spell on the books at Anfield. Davies did not register a competitive appearance for Liverpool and spent last season on loan with Championship outfit Sheffield United.
The Reds agreed a £4m fee with Rangers after Davies was the subject of strong interest from several clubs this summer. It is understood the package consists of £3m with a further £1m in add-ons linked to individual and team performance.

And Klopp has expressed his delight at the new opportunity for the central defender, telling the official website: "Super move. Very positive outcome.
“Rangers is a fantastic club, a big club. Ben belongs on a big stage for sure. European football as well. This presents a proper opportunity to demonstrate his quality and composure. As a person he’s as good a guy as you could hope to meet.
“It’s a smart piece of recruitment from Giovanni van Bronckhorst, to be honest. Perfect for all parties. He has himself an accomplished defender, who is entering his peak years and whose character is top drawer.
“We wish Ben nothing but the success he deserves and will be following from here as he goes on to make many achievements during the rest of his career.”
The Rangers deal sees Liverpool bank a significant profit on Davies, who originally signed from Preston North End in 2021 for an initial £500,000. The Reds also received a £500,000 loan fee when the centre-back went to Sheffield last term, while Preston are now in line for a small windfall due to the activiation of a 20% sell-on clause in the arrangement that brought Davies to Liverpool.
Davies has signed a four-year contract in Scotland, and said tonight: "I am very excited to join Rangers and I am really looking forward to taking this next step in my career. It’s a huge club with big ambitions and I can’t wait to get started."
