Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes his side managed the intensity of the St James' Park crowd well and has used it as an example of what they have to do when they face Villarreal away in the Champions League tomorrow.
The Reds put in a professional performance in their 1-0 win over Newcastle, limiting Eddie Howe's side to a few stray Allan Saint-Maximin shots and a second half strike from Bruno Guimaraes over the course of the 90 minutes.
Before the game and early on in the contest, St James' Park was filled with a raucous atmosphere, which looked to throw Liverpool off their stride for the opening 15 minutes of action.
However, Klopp's side settled down after the opening stages, controlling both the game and the crowd as they continued their title push.

Naby Keita's first half strike proved to be the difference between the two sides, with Newcastle unable to test goalkeeper Alisson too much in the Liverpool net.
And the Liverpool manager reckons his side have to do the exact same when they take on Villarreal on Tuesday night at the Estadio de la Cerámica, where they take a 2-0 goal lead into the second leg semi-final.
"Let's say Villarreal have the first shot on target, the crowd goes up, they win challenges...that's how it is," Klopp told the Liverpool Echo in his Monday press conference.
"A good example is Newcastle, crowd were very intense but we never let it happen [for them]. It was just a clear-cut performance."
