Jurgen Klopp makes Mohamed Salah admission and gives Liverpool injury update

Jurgen Klopp will not take any risks on the fitness of Mohamed Salah - despite the Liverpool striker chasing down the Premier League Golden Boot.

And the Reds boss has delivered an encouraging update on the rest of the Reds' injured players ahead of the potential title-decider against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield on Sunday.

Salah is in contention to be named top goalscorer for the third time in five seasons having netted 22 times this season, one more than Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-Min, who will play at relegated Norwich City this weekend.

The forward missed Tuesday's 2-1 win at Southampton having limped out of the FA Cup final with a groin problem, and was joined on the sidelines by Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho.

And when asked about the trio, Klopp said on Fidiay: "Looks all good. What we do with them for the weekend, I have no idea. We actually understand 100% the goalscoring battle with Son Heung-Min, but there's no chance we take any risk. Mo doesn't want to take any risks, I've no doubt about that.

"It looks good and the boys have made steps, but we will see. My preferred solution is they would play at the weekend for rhythm reasons, or at least be on the bench so we could bring them on, but if not then we take it from there. I cannot say 100%."

Joe Gomez was forced off at half-time against Southampton after injuring his ankle and left the stadium on crutches wearing a protective boot.

But of the defender's fitness, Klopp said: "Good news. We have one further scan, but the first we thought after the game like he did - that we were lucky. It's a proper knock on the leg that he injured (last time) so I understand 100% everyone was a bit concerned, I was until I saw Joe's face in the dressing room. Most of the time we know best about our body.

"The result of this scan isn't here yet but we don't expect anything really different. Reassuring it's all fine. If it's fine then it's about pain and how he can deal with that, then we see what Joe can do today and tomorrow."
