Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted the club will “try everything” in order to have both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino available for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.
Jota was brought off at half-time during the recent Champions League win over Inter Milan following an ankle injury while Firmino missed Saturday’s win over Norwich City with a muscle problem.
In their absence, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Luiz Diaz all scored as Liverpool came from behind at Anfield to keep their Premier League title push alive.
Still, given the relentless schedule ahead with Klopp’s men hosting Leeds United before Sunday’s trip to Wembley, the German needs his key players, especially with his team fighting on four fronts.
With Manchester City losing to Tottenham, fresh hope has emerged as to the potential of winning another League tile, while both domestic cups and the Champions League offer avenues of yet more success.
“I don’t even know if it will be a late decision or not; how I said, it’s too early,” said Klopp.
“I saw them both today, they both look great – but those two always look great.
“We have to see how the specific issues develop but we obviously will try everything.”
