Jurgen Klopp says he is unable to use his early days as Liverpool manager as a guide to restore the team back to their best form this season.

And while he admits results can always dip, Klopp called for his players to show more consistency in their performances going forward as they aim to come out of a frustrating couple of months in the Premier League, starting with Arsenal away on Sunday.

Saturday marks the seven-year anniversary of owners Fenway Sports Group appointing the German following Brendan Rodgers 's sacking and Klopp has since turned an underperforming club into one of the biggest in Europe once more, having won every major honour available to an English side during his time on Merseyside.

Having stuttered for form since early August, however, Klopp was asked if he could use anything from his formative days at Anfield to redress the balance again, but the German says he prefers not to compare Liverpool in October 2015 to where they find themselves currently ahead of a visit to Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.

In recent years, Liverpool's games with Arsenal have been used largely as a measuring stick of the Gunners' progress, writes Paul Gorst.

Since Mikel Arteta took over at the Emirates nearly three years ago, the Londoners have regularly had their performances and results against Klopp dissected as a way of charting just how far they have come under the Spaniard's management.

Eleven months ago, Arteta's Arsenal arrived on Merseyside on the back of a 10-game unbeaten run, aiming to show they had closed the significant gap between Liverpool and Manchester City at the top and the rest of the Premier League.
