Jurgen Klopp has confirmed Naby Keita won't be involved for Liverpool against Nottingham Forest on Saturday despite being spotted in training earlier this week.

The 27-year-old has not featured for the Reds since a late substitute appearance in the Community Shield back in July, with a combination of illness and injury keeping him sidelined. But despite returning to training - he was spotted in Thursday's session - Klopp has urged patience in reintegrating him into the first-team picture.

"Yes (tomorrow is too soon). We can't rush it anyway," the German told reporters. "It was a tough injury, a serious injury. He's now back but only in parts of training. From Monday on, Naby and Ibou, if everything goes as planned, will be involved in full team training. That means from there we count days. His football pre-season starts then."

Klopp also confirmed there are no fresh injury concerns for Saturday's trip to Nottingham Forest, but admitted he is waiting on medical advice - namely on Darwin Nunez - and may be forced to make changes amid an intense run of fixtures.

Pep Guardiola says sorry for Man City vile Anfield chants

Pep Guardiola has admitted he did not hear the vile chants by Manchester City supporters mocking the Heysel and Hillsborough disasters but has apologised for the behaviour which tarnished the clash at Anfield last weekend.

Liverpool beat the Citizens 1-0 on Sunday thanks to Mohamed Salah's strike late in the second half. However, behaviour from both sets of supporters marred the occasion and ultimately resulted in a mass fallout in the following days.

Speaking in his press conference on Friday afternoon, Guardiola admitted he does not regard the fixture as poisonous despite the unsavoury scenes which occurred during the game, but did offer an apology for the behaviour of some Manchester City supporters.

"I don't think so. From our side, I'm pretty sure of that," said the Spaniard when asked whether the fixture had become 'toxic'. "I didn't hear the chants. If it happened, I'm so sorry [to Liverpool], it doesn't represent what we are as a team or a club if this happens."
