Jurgen Klopp is optimistic Joe Gomez's injury isn't as bad as first feared.
The defender limped off against Southampton on Tuesday night with what looked like a nasty leg injury after an attempted challenge late in the first half. Gomez remained in the match until half time before making way at the break for Jordan Henderson, with James Milner moving to right-back.
Liverpool fans were worried Gomez, who has been injury-prone during his time at Anfield, would be on the sidelines yet again but Klopp revealed he wasn't in too much pain and was in good spirits in the dressing room at full-time.
He said: "I hope we were lucky. He has pain but not too much. He got a real shock to the system. But he's sitting in the dressing room and was in a good mood when I spoke to him."
Klopp made nine changes to the side that won the FA Cup at the weekend with the possibility of catching Manchester City in the title race looking unlikely. But it will go down to the last day after the Reds secured an impressive comeback victory against Southampton.
Man City will need a win against Aston Villa to lift the championship as Liverpool take on Wolves. And Klopp knows Pep Guardiola won't be taking anything for granted, He said: "If I was in the other situation then I don't feel like I'm champion already.
"I'm second and I think: 'Yeah, of course City win.' But this is football. And also we still have to beat Wolves and have one ear in Manchester, it's not that far away.
"If we become champions then it would be deserved as well but we have to win. Whatever happens, will happen because this is a pretty special group.
"It's game 18 in this run for us, we've won 15 and drawn three. To win 15, draw three, it's absolute madness and it's the only way to keep this distance to City. The boys have thrown everything on the pitch and it's really exceptional."

Klopp insisted he would not speak to Villa boss Gerrard to wish him luck. He added: "I don't have to speak to him because Aston Villa will want to win for Aston Villa."
On making nine changes against the Saints, Klopp said: "It was an incredible performance. If it hadn't worked out then it would have been 1,000 per cent my responsibility but they won and it's 1,000 per cent down to the boys.
"We deserved three points. Fantastic. I'm so happy about the performance that it was touching. I thought: 'Wow, these boys.' It's like having Ferraris in the garage, you let them out and they play like this.
"It's really tough for the boys sometimes but whatever happens this year happened because of this group. This group is exceptional and tonight and they showed it again."
