Jurgen Klopp confirms two major Liverpool absentees & discusses rotation ahead of Leeds United clash

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino will both miss his side's clash with Leeds United at Anfield on Wednesday.

The Reds are looking to move to within three points of Premier League leaders Manchester City but will be without the attacking duo for the game.

Jota and Firmino missed Saturday's comeback win over Norwich City with an ankle and muscle injury respectively, having suffered the setbacks against Inter Milan last week, and were missing from training on Monday.

Although Klopp is yet to rule the pair out of the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea this weekend, he has revealed that they won't be involved when they take on the Whites.

"No for tomorrow, no chance," he told reporters. "For the final, we will see. I really don't know in the moment.

"We have to see what we can do with the boys in the next few days and then we make a decision later in the week.

"I would love to have Bobby and Diogo available. That will not happen for tomorrow night. It is like it is."

Luis Diaz, Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah started as Liverpool's front three in the 3-1 win over Norwich and they could all be used once again.

But with a cup final on the horizon, Klopp could rotate his pack and chose Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi, who are both pushing for a recall.

Nevertheless, Jota and Firmino are going to be a huge miss to the Reds for at least the foreseeable future given their form so far this season.

Jota is currently the league's second-highest scorer on 12 and only Salah has netted more (17), while Firmino has been a lynchpin in the side over the years.

On his side's next few matches, Klopp added: "I didn't think about Sunday's team. One thing I've learned is it doesn't work for me to have two or three games in my mind.

"We try everything for this game. We didn't make Norwich changes for Leeds or final, we needed to rest some. Exactly how we do it now."
