Jurgen Klopp confirms 'not good' Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold injury blows for Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp delivered a gloomy update on the fitness of Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold as Liverpool’s injury woes deepened further.

Diaz was forced off with a suspected knee problem shortly before half-time of the 3-2 Premier League defeat at Arsenal on Sunday afternoon having been earlier caught by a challenge from Thomas Partey.

And Alexander-Arnold failed to appear for the second half after his right ankle was trod on by Gabriel Martinelli towards the end of the first half.

Diaz left the Emirates on crutches while wearing a protective brace on his left knee with both he and Alexander-Arnold undergoing scans on Monday to ascertain the extent of the damage.

And Klopp said: “Lucho we had to change before half-time, something with the knee. Not good.

“He will have a scan and we will know more, I have no idea about the extent.

“On top of that, Trent was bad as well with the ankle, a twisted ankle. Not good.

“Trent in seven years never went off if he could have played on, he felt too much pain and there was slight swelling immediately. So he will have a scan.”

Both Diaz and Alexander-Arnold are now in danger of missing a number of games before the season pauses for the World Cup in five weeks, with Liverpool visiting Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday before welcoming title holders Manchester City in the Premier League next Sunday.

Klopp had already been dealt an injury blow ahead of the trip to the Emirates with on-loan Arthur Melo facing three months on the sidelines after undergoing an operation on a thigh injury.
