Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Liverpool’s new signing Luis Diaz had been a long-term target for the club and they had wanted to sign him from Porto last summer.

The Reds completed the signing of the Colombian forward on Sunday in what could be a major boost to their ranks ahead of the closing months of the campaign.

Diaz moves to Anfield immediately, with the Reds completing one of the standout deals of the January transfer window despite the 25-year-old initially appearing destined for a move to Tottenham.
