Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was spotted sharing a quiet moment with Carlo Ancelotti after the Italian had led Real Madrid to yet another Champions League triumph.
Vinicius Jr’s second-half goal was enough for the Spanish giants to claim the title in Paris, with his defensive colleagues having also turned in an inspired performance at the other end to keep Liverpool at bay.
Whilst the victory in the French capital sees Real Madrid extend their record lead at the top of the winners’ list, it was also a landmark triumph for Italian schemer Ancelotti. The former Chelsea and Everton boss has now won the Champions League on four occasions as a coach - claiming two winners’ medals each with AC Milan and Real Madrid.
Following the full-time whistle, he was seen sharing a quiet moment with opposite number Klopp. After the Italian’s post-match television interview, the pair shared an embrace and brief conversation, the Liverpool boss presumably wishing the Madrid boss his congratulations.
He then did the same in his press conference after what is sure to be a gutting defeat in the French capital. They scored a goal and we didn’t,” Klopp said. “That’s hard to take but we have to respect that.
“I congratulate Madrid and I have congratulated their president outside personally. When a goalkeeper is man of the match something is obviously wrong for the other team.

“We had three really big chances when Courtois made incredible saves. I would have loved more of them. In the last third we could have done better. Madrid had one shot on target and scored. We had nine on target and we couldn’t score.
“That’s the difference. We had 24 shots and I remember Courtois making three world-class saves. With our quality we can cause more problems.”
Meanwhile, Real schemer Ancelotti was left speechless having become the outright most successful manager in Champions League history. Speaking with BT Sport, the Italian said: “I can’t believe. I cannot believe. We are really happy. [Spreads arms wide] What can I say? I cannot say more.
“I am a record man! I had the luck to come here last year and we’ve had a fantastic season. I found a squad, as usual, with a lot of quality and a lot of mental character. We passed through some really difficult games. The supporters helped us a lot. Tonight, I’m really happy that they are happy.”
The Spanish giants can now boast a highly impressive double having added the Champions League title alongside the La Liga crown. Meanwhile, Liverpool have to make do with the FA and Carabao Cups having been denied the opportunity to complete what would've been an unprecedented quadruple.
