Junior Jah: Nine charged after teen, 18, stabbed and shot in Canning Town

Detectives investigating the killing of a teenager, shot and stabbed to death yards from his east London home, have charged nine people.

Junior Jah, 18, died after being attacked in Coolfin Road, Canning Town, on April 26 2021.

Junior was stabbed repeatedly and died at the scene. It was discovered later that he had also been shot.

Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command believe some of the suspects are linked to an attempted murder in Tree Road, Newham on April 22 2021, four days earlier.

Junior was the younger brother of Ahmed Jah, a 21-year-old Londoner knifed to death in Canning Town in 2017 while buying a drink from his local shop.

Junior’s aunt Yvette Goodhew described Junior as a “beautiful, quiet boy” following the death.

“The family are heartbroken. They are devastated, they have lost two sons to knife violence,” Mrs Goodhew told the Standard.

“Junior was a sweet, humble, lovely boy. He loved his family, loved life. He was really into football. It is so cruel what has happened. We have to stop young people carrying knives.”

She said the brothers have two sisters who are struggling to come to terms with their loss and added: “The whole family are asking why this has happened to them.

“We have no idea why Junior was attacked, we need answers. He died outside his home where he should have been safe.”
