June temperatures break records in 44 prefectures

The nation experienced its hottest June in history last month, with the Japan Meteorological Agency announcing Friday that 44 of the 47 prefectures recorded their highest-ever temperatures for the month.

On top of that, record temperatures were set for any time of the year in eight prefectures. According to the agency, it has 914 observation sites nationwide, and the highest-ever temperatures were recorded for 12 locations across the eight prefectures.
