June 10 violence: 5 accused still evading arrest

PRAYAGRAJ: Even after three weeks of the Atala violence and arson of June 10, the district police are groping in the dark about the whereabouts of the five prime absconders on whom a cash reward of Rs 25,000 each has been announced in connection with the incident. The five absconders are Umar Khalid of Shahganj, Fazal Khan of Kareli, Dr Ashish Mittal of Civil Lines, Zeeshan Rahmani of Pura Mufti and Shah Alam of Kareli.

Shah Alam is the district president of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) while Fazal Khan is a Samajwadi Party corporator. Senior cops admitted that they were yet to get clues about the whereabouts of all the five absconders and five specially constituted teams were running from pillar to post to ensure their arrest. Moreover, the police had managed to get NBW issued against all these five absconders but in vain.
