The Knicks had been one of the hottest teams in the NBA before losing two straight games to begin the week. And after a lackluster showing in the first half of Thursday’s game against the Magic, it appears that tensions are starting to rise.
After arguing with one of the referees immediately following the end of the second quarter, Julius Randle was issued a technical foul. He kept pleading his case as some of his teammates attempted to intervene. Randle took particular issue with guard Immanuel Quickley, snapping at him to stop touching him as the team headed for the locker room.
New York trailed by as many as 19 in the first half before rallying at the end of the second to trim the deficit to eight points.
The Knicks had won 12 of their previous 15 games prior to the start of this week, a run that included nine consecutive victories. They entered play on Thursday in possession of the No. 5 seed in the Eastern Conference.
