Julio Iglesias and Chill: Netflix Strikes Deal to Produce Show About the Iconic Singer

MIAMI - Netflix has partnered with global music icon Julio Iglesias to bring his extraordinary life story to the screen. This marks the first time Iglesias will be intimately involved in a project depicting his life, allowing fans a unique and authentic glimpse into the journey of one of the world's most celebrated artists.

The series, currently in development, will chronicle Iglesias's rise to fame, highlighting his status as the first non-English artist to break into the American and Asian markets, cementing his position among the top five record sellers in history.

With a career spanning over 55 years, Iglesias's story is one of resilience, talent, and global appeal. The 80-year-old artist has sung in 12 languages, connecting with fans worldwide and becoming the first Spanish music artist to achieve global fame. His songs have resonated across continents, making him a household name in many countries.

Julio Iglesias promised a tell-all biopic

"After numerous speculations, books, and documentaries where I wasn't involved, I've decided to finally tell my life's truth with a global company like Netflix," Julio Iglesias shared. "A heartfelt letter from Bela Bajaria (Netflix's Chief Content Officer) convinced me that Netflix was the perfect platform for this project. I'm thankful to the many people from various countries who have supported and enriched my life."

Diego Ávalos, Vice President of Content at Netflix, expressed gratitude for Iglesias's trust in the platform. "Julio Iglesias is entrusting us with his story. His talent and determination are unparalleled. Now, we have the chance to explore beyond the glamour, the magazine covers, and the gold records to understand an extraordinary individual who has influenced generations worldwide."

A very crazy life

Iglesias's journey is filled with unexpected twists. He started as a youth soccer player for Real Madrid until a car accident ended his dreams of being a professional athlete. However, this setback paved the way for his meteoric rise in the music industry.

In the 1970s, Iglesias established himself in several countries, but it was in the 1980s that he truly became a global sensation. He earned titles like "Most Popular Foreign Artist in China" and has received countless awards, including the Guinness World Record as the "Latin artist with the highest record sales in the world" and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the U.S. National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.

Renowned for his unique style, Julio Iglesias has connected with millions globally and shared the stage with legends like Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Sting, Dolly Parton, Placido Domingo, Charles Aznavour, and Johnny Hallyday.

A big family

After years of filling entertainment and gossip publications with his romantic and musical adventures, rumors say that he has had more than 3,000 lovers. Iglesias became very private after his marriage to Dutch model Miranda Rijnsburger.

He has eight legitimate children. Chábeli, Julio José, and Enrique Iglesias with first wife Isabel Preysler, and Guillermo, Miguel, Rodrigo and the twins Victoria and Cristina, from his marriage to Rijnsburger. A man named Javier Santos has been fighting for years to be recognized as an Iglesias.

This Netflix series promises to be a deep dive into the life of a man who not only conquered the music world but also the hearts of fans across the globe. As viewers eagerly await this journey through Iglesias's life, the series is poised to become a significant chapter in the story of a true music legend.
