If you were a regular at Julies in Newcastle back in the day, you might want to dust off your best dance moves and get your glad-rags on as a reunion night in honour of the famous club is happening in the city every month.
A favourite haunt for Geordie revellers and Newcastle United players in the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 00s, Julies, and latterly Julies 2, were the places to be seen. Even Wham called in once!
If you were no stranger to the Quayside haunt you’d know that in its heyday Julie’s had plenty of soul with tracks from the likes of Luther Vandross, The Emotions and Sister Sledge de rigueur.

Five years ago a former doorman at Julies, Jed Irving, contacted Heart North East saying that some of the songs played on the station's Breakfast Show had reminded him of his days at the club.
His phone call led to Tiger Hornsby, the cocktail haunt that now occupies the Julies premises, making a promise to stage a Julies reunion if a petition gathered over 1,000 signatures. Thanks to Heart listeners and Chronicle readers, that benchmark was surpassed and the night was a packed out success.
Fast forward to 2022 and Tiger Hornsby are turning the clock back gain but, not for one night only this time, as they will host Julies reunion events on the final Sunday of every month.
The news of the next one on Sunday, August 28, was shared on Facebook by DJ Wayne C McDonald and one of his followers replied: " I’ll be there with my sleeves rolled up in Miami vice stylie , that’s the Julie’s I remember," with another commenting: "Old school! Legendary."
