Retired New England Patriots receiver Julian Edelman posted on Twitter to reflect upon the Texas school shooting on Tuesday.
Texas Sen. Roland Gutierrez said, according to a police briefing, a gunman killed at least 18 children and two adults at an elementary school. Three more people were wounded and hospitalized in the attack, which is the deadliest shooting at a U.S. grade school since the Sandy Hook massacre in 2012.
In the wake of the tragic events, Edelman shared the following message: “This doesn’t feel like America. We focus on happiness and prosperity and those values are great. But our greatness should be measured by how we protect our most vulnerable. We’re not doing our job. I don’t know the answer, I don’t pretend to understand politics but this is unacceptable. Comments are open tell me how to help.”

Edelman’s first sentence is what I find most profound.
