Julian Alvarez is happy to have completed his move to Manchester City and has revealed he has already spoken with Pep Guardiola.
In a break from the norm, City made a transfer deadline day swoop last week as they confirmed the acquisition of South American Footballer of the Year Alvarez.
The Blues spent £14.1million on the highly-rated striker, who bagged an impressive 24 goals and 15 assists last season to fire River Plate to a league and Copa Libertadores double.
Alvarez will remain in his native Argentina until at least July and spoke for the first time on his impending move to Manchester prior to a pre-season friendly against Velez Sarsfield on Saturday.
“I'm happy. Talk to my representative, the clubs talked and it happened," he told ESPN Futbol Argentina, via Albiceleste Talk, ahead of the 0-0 draw.
"I already spoke with Guardiola, a little chat. I'm an admirer of him. He welcomed me and was happy because I joined his project.”
"He [Guardiola] welcomed me, congratulated me on what I had done, and that he was happy that I was joining the Manchester City project for these years.”
The announcement of the signing came on the same day as Alvarez' 22nd birthday and he also revealed that Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni got in touch to congratulate him for both of them.
“Scaloni congratulated me on the signing, it also happened on my birthday. He congratulated me for both of them.”
