Julia Bradbury defends herself after concern from fans over 'falling for scam'

Countryfile star Julia Bradbury defended herself after fans warned that she'd fallen for a scam.

The 51-year-old had shared a video of her pulling a plaster from her foot that claimed to remove toxins from the body.

In the clip it appeared to have drawn out a "disgusting"-looking substance.

She had initially shared the stomach-turning video with the caption: "How much fun did you have in bed last night? I tried out these Body Detox foot patches to 'draw out toxins overnight' How disgusting does this look?

"They promise an array of benefits inc: improvements to your metabolism, immune system, insomnia, fatigue, migraines etc etc!"

Some fans were stunned, and wanted to get their hands on the strange £15.99 patches, but the majority weren't convinced.

"It’s just a scam, any type of water/condensation makes the patch go dark even tap water. So if you’ve got sweaty feet then it will definitely go black," one wrote.

Another echoed: "Scam - your liver and kidneys are quite good at dealing with toxins - this is a bag of gunk that goes brown when moisture gets into it!"

"I tried these for migraines a few years back. No discernible benefits but fun! Husband said I should just have strapped some Yorkshire teabags to my feet," one wrote.

Another gave Julia a helpful tip: "You could put a sliced onion on your foot overnight that is meant to draw out toxins in the same way. Not tried it myself though."

"Please don’t. It’s utter nonsense. The small quantity of sweat from the sole of your foot simply causes discolouration of the patch. The same thing happens when you pour water on one and wait.

Another argued: "Read an interesting scientific article about these. The conclusion was that they probably have zero affect re detoxification but may well have some good effects on what they put into your body."

After being met with a largely negative response on Twitter, she shared an update: "I was sleepy when I posted about these & didn't use words like allegedly/supposedly in the actual film.

"I hope i was clear that I'm not sure about these & it was just a bit of dirty tea bag fun. I'm not saying they 'do' anything. Reflexology though.." she added two 'ok' emojis.

She has been sharing her journey as she battles cancer (Instagram/ @therealjuliabradbury)

Julia, who is battling breast cancer underwent a mastectomy in October and said recently that it was a "struggle to get out of bed".

She recently expressed her gratitude for the "love and support" she had in her life.

Sharing a photo of her smiling in the back of a taxi, Julia wrote: "Grateful for the lovely people I've met this week. Grateful for the opportunity to look forwards. Grateful for all the love & support I have in my life. It's important to make room in the middle of everything for gratitude."

She was sent a lovely message from one fan named Gary Crisp: “I know I don't know you, and I don't normally pour my heart out to strangers, but I've always admired your enthusiasm for the outdoors & nature."

Julia replied: "Thank you so much Gary," she replied with a green heart and leaf emoji.
